Leviticus 20:27
" A man also or a woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that
is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: They shall stone
them with stones: their blood shall be upon them."
1 Timothy 4:1
" Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times
some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving
spirits and doctrines of demons."
Acts 19:19a
" Many of them also which used curious arts (magic)
brought their books together, and burned them
before all men."
Astrology:
An ancient practice that assumes that the position of the stars and planets
has a direct influence upon people and events. The "horoscope"
is a chart that attempts to determine the position of stars and
planets at time of one's birth.
The Occult:
Belief in and use of supernatural forces to predict future
events or bring about a specific result.
Astrology attempts to understand the future through occultic
means rather than through God's divinely inspired Word.
God and only God knows what the future is for each
of us.
The fatalistic approach of astrology is
contradicted by Scripture, which holds us responsible
for our own destiny. Astrology and Christianity are
totally incompatible. Scripture makes it clear that any
type of astrological practice is condemned by God.
Deuternonomy 18:9-14
"When thou art come into the land which the Lord thy
God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the
abominations of those nations. There shall not be found
among you any one that maketh his son of his daughters
to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an
observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Or a
charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a
wizard or a necromancer. For all that do these things
are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of
these things the Lord thy God doth drive them out
from before thee. Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord
thy God. For these nations which thou shalt possess,
hearkened unto observance of times, and unto diviners:
but as for thee, the Lord thy God hath not suffered
thee so to do."
Astrology is based upon the belief that the planets
revolve around the earth, know as the "geocentric theory."
This theory is shown to be in error: Planets revolve around
the sun, not the earth. This is known as the
"heliocentric theory." It stands to reason that since
astrology is based upon the refuted geocentric theory,
it's reliability is destroyed.
The Bible tells us not to "be ignorant of Satan's devices."
His strategy is to divert, confuse, and deceive believers.
We need to remember that Satan and his workers do not
appear as "devils with red pitchforks' that we fear.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For
Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also
transform themselves into ministers of righteousness,
whose end will be according to their works."
The Bible also says: "My people are destroyed by lack
of knowledge." Often people just do not realize the
seriousness of the 'daily horoscope', thinking it is
harmless and just 'having fun.' However, there is
nothing 'harmless' about a tool of Satan, and we are
not to have anything to do with the 'powers of
darkness.' It is forbidden in the Bible, and we all
need to stand up for what is right and denounce what
is wrong.
